UAE visit visa rules: New minimum salary requirement to sponsor family, friends

In a strategic move to attract global talent, the newly instituted regulations have unveiled four specialized visit visa categories. These pathways are specifically tailored for industry experts and professionals operating within artificial intelligence, entertainment, events, and the luxury maritime sector, including cruise ships and high-end yachts.

Income-Linked Sponsorship Framework

Sponsoring a friend or relative for a UAE visit visa has now been strictly calibrated against the sponsor’s financial standing. Residents are empowered to host extended family members up to the third degree of kinship, as well as personal acquaintances, contingent upon meeting specific monthly salary thresholds.

To qualify as a host, residents must demonstrate a minimum monthly income of AED 4,000, AED 8,000, or AED 15,000, with the exact tier determined by the specific relationship to the visitor.

While the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has codified these income benchmarks, crucial clarifications delineate exactly who qualifies under the first, second, and third degrees of kinship. Sponsors should note that official, verifiable proof of kinship must be furnished concurrently with the visa application.
